My name is Delliah Redd. I came from a very athletic family. I grew up on the west side of Chicago, which is a very tough area. I started playing basketball at the age of six.

I got my first big break in sixth grade because it was my time being on the girls' basketball team. My coach was impressed with my basketball skills and knowledge. So I played elementary basketball from 6-8th grade.

Then I went on to high school. The first high school I went to was Providence St. Mel. There I started as a frosh-soph, then later that year the varsity coach recruited me to the varsity team. While attending Providence St. Mel I played basketball and I was a member of the girls' cross country team as well.

After my sophomore year I transferred and went to Farragut Career Academy. I played two seasons there. I was the team captain for two consecutive years. We had a struggling, fragile team. Many of my teammates were not experience in the game of basketball, which led us to two losing seasons.

So after graduating from high school I went straight to college. I attended a Historically Black College/University (HBCU), Central State University. I didn't play on the collegiate level, I played on the intramural girls' softball and basketball team.

I didn't want my grade point average to slip, so I thought that my academics were more important. But now that I am out of school, I still want to pursue my dreams, possibly play overseas in one of the top European countries.
