by Billy Harris
(San Diego, CA)
Me at USI
My name is Will Harris aka Billy Harris out of Carbondale, Illinois. I am 6'5 207 pounds and I currently live in San Diego, CA. I played at the University of Southern Indiana out of the GLVC conference(The best in D2 during my career). I played during the days of powerhouse Kentucky Wesleyn. Them and us are known for bitter rivals throughout the country. I was recruited by many D1's coming out of high school where I was a 2nd All-State Basketball player in the state of Illinois in the AA division(the largest division) I went on to have a great career at Southern Indiana even though we were loaded with transfers year after year. I was all-region, street and smith basketball All-American and All-GLVC two straight years.
Southern Indiana, an NCAA Division II school, is expected to compete for the DII National Championship this year and is the pre-season favorite in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Senior forward Billy Harris and senior center John Oden were named pre-season honorable mention All-Americans by Street & Smith's College Basketball. The Screaming Eagles finished 25-7 a year ago and won a national championship in 1995, when UWM coach Bruce Pearl was leading the program

I did not pursue basketball after college for two reasons, I moved out to cali to get another degree in Film. I played under the basket my final two years of college and succeeded, but the reason for it was a knee injury in 2000, cause me to gain weight and I never got back to my small frame of 200 pounds until last year. I have all my quickness, I am a strong guard with 3 point range and I am a beast down low. My records speak for themselves and I am ten times the player I was at USI, because I have slimmed down to my normal weight of 200. All I want is a chance to prove myself with a trail period with a team. I am sure I can contribute 17 to 20 points a game easily anywhere.
