NCAA March Madness – College Basketball Betting

According to at least one college professor and his study (Games Colleges Play, John Thelin), March is the least productive month of work in the United States and it’s no hidden secret that it coincides with the NCAA College Basketball Tournament.

NCAA March Madness,” as it’s commonly referred to as, pits 65 of the best teams in college basketball together in a single elimination tournament. The NCAA College Basketball Tournament is arguably the greatest postseason tournament in the world. Universities of all sizes compete on the same court – which means that anything and everything can happen.

Consequently, the unpredictability of the tournament as well as the near non-stop basketball action for three weeks, makes March Madness the prime college basketball betting venue.

The top seeds are often the favorites to win it all, yet the “Cinderella stories” are truly what makes March Madness and money wagering on the games interesting. Every year, one or two of the lower seeded teams steal an upset or two, thus transforming the program into everyone’s new favorite team.

Researching and discovering that “Cinderella” team before the tournament begins is really what makes college basketball betting interesting. Lower seeds are almost always the underdogs at Vegas, which means that picking and betting on the correct “Cinderella” could make for a very nice payday.

Even if you do not go to Vegas to lay down a bet, several workplaces around the nation participate in bracket pools and other fun games related to the tournament. Thus, it doesn’t really matter how you get involved with March Madness, just that you do in fact get involved and enjoy one of the greatest sporting events in the world.

The first and second rounds of NCAA March Madness in 2010 will take place March 18th-21st at several locations across the nation. March 25th-28th will mark the dates for the “Sweet Sixteen” and “Elite Eight” rounds. Finally, the four remaining teams will arrive in Indianapolis on April 3rd for the “Final Four.”
