The sport of basketball was invented by James Naismith, a Canadian by birth.
The game then and the game as it is now cannot be compared.
I don't think Mr. Naismith could have envisioned what it has become today. It is such a fast paced game which often resembles ballet in the air.
You just gotta love Will Ferrel. I think this will be one funny basketball movie. You have a great day, San Diego.

The athletes who play the sport have to be superbly conditioned to play at the highest level. There is magic, grace and beauty to be watched.
The more you play the game the more you realize that this is true. I have never had as good of a workout as when I have just played in a hard game or practise.
With basketball you can play alone, with 1 other person or any combination of players. It really is fun. If you have not tried it you have to "give it a go". I guarantee you will be hooked for life.
As you can probably tell I love the sport and have done so from the very first time I played it back in the 3rd or 4th grade. I remember going to a Harlem Globetrotters game and I was amazed at the tricks they could do with a ball.
If you have never been to a "Trotters" game I encourage you to go because you will have such a great time. In fact one of my friends in the is former Trotter Mel Davis who now lives in Vancouver.
We will keep adding to this page as time goes on with interesting hoop stories and information about this great game that is just booming in popularity.
Here is a little video we did for the U.B.C. Basketball team when they went on tour to the Philippines in 2004. Our very own Bob Hieltjes (at 40 years old) was invited to tour and play.
