Basketball Player with Passion from Ghana

by Awudu Josiah Rasheed Wuduah
(Ghana)

Awudu Josiah Rasheed Wuduah is my name, i was born on the 3rd of November 1994, in Tamale, which is in the Northern region of Ghana.

Basketball is my life and my love, i love this game with a strong passion, and play it not because people are playing it but something within which i cant express is what i feel when i play it. i love this game and it has always being my dream to one day become a pro in this lovely game of my life. And i believe i can make it big in basketball if am give the support and assistance.

I started playing basketball from my fourth grad at Barwah Barracks. i started playing this game on bear red graveled court cos the was no better court over there but things and conditions didnt change my passion for the game and always i trained like i was given the chance to go play basketball outside the country.

Basketball is a sport which is give very less attention and support in my country , and because of this attitude of our leaders in basketball, lot of great talents in basketball is lost all the time. And due to this many parents discourage their children who have great potentials to stop playing basketball cos the see it as a waste of time and non profitable, it got to a time when i was told by my parents no to go play basketball, cos i always use my school sneaker to go and play it and the no money at home to buy me new ones, so i used to sell fruits and water in town just to get money to but my sneakers to play the game, i always believe that the is a better future for me in basketball and am never going to let situation change my goals and dream in basketball.

certain time i go for practice and come home with injuries and my mom will won me to stop this game before it kills me but still don't give up, i could remember that one day i went for practice and as we were training, one of my team accidental hit my eye brow with his elbow and it and my eye brow was cut and blood started coming out, so i was rushed to the hospital and the sowed my eye brow with stitches, and when i had this injury my mom won me strongly not to go play basketball any more, so i never went for practice until my wound was heal and when it was heal, i wanted to go for practice and realize my mom had hid all my basketball dress and foots and i pleaded with her for a long time before she allowed me to play basketball again, since from there she has always being proud with the recommendation she hears from my teachers at school, coaches and some presenters on t.v.

I have the potentials to play basketball to the next level but have no one to help me go to that next level and i cant go to that next level hear in my country. my hard work and dedication to basketball has help me win much award and honor in my country such as:

1. Hall of Fame Recognition in my high school( Ghana senior high)2009.
2. Player of the century of my high school 2009.
3. MVP in the National inter schools and Collages Millo championship.2009.
4. Northern Regional best player 2009.
5. MVP in the Northern Sector peace sports festival2008.
6. Two(2) times MVP in the inter schools basketball championship2008, 2009.
7. Player of the century in my high school 2009.
8. Second runner up MVP Community Dungs Championship.
9. Men basketball captain for my senior high, junior high and my community team.
10. Principal sports prefect of my high school and Junior high. MVP Junior high inter school Championship.

These are some of my honours and this makes my mom so proud for not stoping me of my dream. some times she tells me she isnt suprice of all this achievement cos, it was basketball that made me take my first step as a child, she told me when i was a child, i walk earlier, because of basketball, she said one day i was sitting outside when a boy was passing with his basketball and when i saw the boy with the ball, i tried to get up and go to him for the ball and i cried and stood up on my feet and took my first step to get to the boy for the ball, so people started calling her to come she his son walking and from there she knew the was some thing special about me in sports.

Please, basketball is my life and i know i can be more than the Micheal Jordan, Lebron James and the Kobe Bryant, if am given the chance and assistance, duo am not the best but with trainig from coaches outside the coutry, i will become more than the best we have now.

Most rich parents who could afford to take their children out of the country to America and other countries who support basketball to school and play basketball are now proud of their wards cos they are rely doing well. Please the talents are there but they only need to be assisted and supported. As the saying goes,

Nobody can do everything but everybody can do some thing. Duo i believe in God to help me to achieve my dreams, but God cant come down to help me, but he uses people like u to help the less privilege ones.

i need Ur help and support to make my dream a realization, cos i believe in God, my potentials and Ur Help, i can surely do exploit. i just want to make my mom proud and to enjoy the suffering she has suffered for me. my mom has really done a lot in bring me up and i want to make her proud through my success in basketball.

Because of my passion for basketball my mom had to push my evening lessons backward, so that i could go for practice and to learn at the same time, since basketball goes with education. and from this sacrifice she did, am now an Above average student in school and an excellent player in basketball.

Most coaches have tried to help me, by taking me to the States to school and to play basketball cos they believe in my potentails and know that if am five the chance i will, make them proud, but all their effort have yielded to noting, cos they have no strong links with coaches and agents outside the country the country to help me, but through it all we all haven't given up, and we are still in serious training and praying that God opens a way for me.

Recently our leaders in basketball have realized the increase in great talents in basketball by young kids and due to this, they have come out with an initiative to market young and talented kids like me and others to coaches and agents outside the country. so they are to do profile videos on us which will be shown on t.v and kept on the internet so that coaches and agents can get asses to. And God being so good am the first kid they are to start with.

please i need ur help to make my drams a realization. i watched one of ur shows, which was Oprah's biggest suprices. Ur help and support can change the life of this young African boy who is willing to make a mark in basketball regardless of anything, cos he believes in God and his potentials to help him make that help, but this mark cant be made without Ur help.

i have a lot of articles written on me which is on the internet, about a just ended championship.

Thank you and God richly bless u for you tim
