May 1, 2008, Basketball / A breath of fresh air blew in from Iran
Here is an excerpt from an interesting article about basketball in the Middle East:
"Two-and-a-half weeks ago, during the game against Ironi Nahariya, Maccabi Rishon Letzion chairman Moshe Kaliski was leaning against the wall behind his team's bench with his head down. Rishon Letzion was on its way to its sixth consecutive loss (94-76) and 10th in 11 games, and you got the feeling that Kaliski was beginning to accept the fact that his club would be relegated to the National League (Liga Leumit) at the end of the season. At the final buzzer, he took his legs and his feelings and left. "Click to read more.

Feb 14, 2008, V02 Max has no Relationship with Basketball Performance
Found this informative article today that Elite Level Basketball Coaches should read:
High V02 Max which is an indicator of your Aerobic capacity is a common measure used when evaluating many different kinds of athletes participating in a variety of sports. But what has been shown in many research studies is that a high V02 Max has no correlation to performance in anaerobic dominant sports like Basketball or Ice Hockey.

Here is a short video feature about an aspiring 11 year old basketball player. The kid has talent and works his butt off. The debate will be about whether or not he is going to one day burn out.
The dad says he does not push the kid and that the kid just loves it and pushes himself. Let's hope so for the kids sake. Watch the video and decide for yourself. Send me your comments and let me know what you think.
